Our last Home Study happened on Monday!! We had a long day of work and then traveling to Chicago to complete our Home Study and Adoption 101 Training! Everything went very well! We have also completed our 10 hours of online training as of last week, and now our next step is fingerprinting, which is happening this Saturday. After that, we have 10 more hours of training that we have to complete before referral, which we should have completed after the Christian Alliance for Orphans - Summit 10 conference in Chicago, April 30-May 2 (http://www.christianalliancefororphans.org/summit/) We couldn't be more stoked!! We are very much looking forward to what God has in store for us at this conference!
Our "adoption library" is growing, as we now have five adoption books and one on the way! Danniger and I are both really bad at starting a new book before we've finished another, so we've both agreed to keep each other accountable in that aspect! I'm so blessed I have him :)
My daily devo today (from Karen Ehman) was about "worrying" and how we should turn our worry into worship. I don't know if many of you know this or not, but I tend to be a worrier ;) Sometimes I get caught up in the "what ifs" of our adoption process, and I find myself worrying about the future. After spending time with our Heavenly Father today, I have to say that I just felt His peace, "...the peace of God which surpasses all understanding..." (Philippians 4:7a) and He just reassured me that I need to put my trust in Him. "Those who know Your name trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You." (Psalm 9:10) Karen said something in the devotional that just hit home for me: "God knows my future as well as He knows me. It's my job to seek to know Him more as I place my future in His hands."
"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness....Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself." (Matthew 6:33-34)

Last Friday was our second and third Home Study visits! These took place at our home, and went very well! Three down......one to go!! Praise God! Our last Home Study will be in Chicago again, and will take place on Monday, April 14th. FBI and State background checks/fingerprinting will happen shortly, and just as soon as we get all of our training hours in, we should be on the waiting list by early to mid May!
Just a little side note......we saw God's Not Dead (which we recommend to everybody, by the way!) in the theaters w/ a sweet couple from our small group this past weekend, and it reminded me of this phrase.......
God is good.
All the time.
And all the time.
God is good!
