July 15, 2014

Well, we've had quite the busy week! On Saturday, we left early for our transracial adoption training in Chicago (in the midst of a torrential downpour!!). The training was very informative and helpful, and we both learned quite a bit! We're very excited to share what we've learned with our families! The training lasted about 4 hours, and after it was over, Danniger and I noticed that we both had voicemails on our phones. As it turns out, it was the company who was taking care of our puppies, and they said that the basement had started flooding. (That just seems to be "the norm" when you live in the flatlands of Illinois!) Going out to a nice lunch after our training was not in the cards anymore, so we rushed home. Our wonderful neighbor, Don, came to the rescue, while we were still driving home, and went over to assess the damage. By then, I think we had about 3-4 inches of water in our basement! After he, graciously, got a second pump running, things started flowing again. When we arrived home, Don was sweet enough to even help Danniger carry all of our wet, sopping carpet upstairs! We are ever grateful for his kindness!

The Friday before we left for training, we received our USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) I-600A packet to file. In the packet we have included: I-600A form, proof of U.S. citizenship, proof of marriage, our home study, state approval letter (stating that we're approved to bring a child from South Korea into our home...yay!), and a few more other documents. It was a little overwhelming at first, but we just finished filling out all the forms and gathering all of our necessary documents together! We need to mail this out as soon as possible so that, once we're approved, we can get fingerprinted (yes, again!......and it won't be the last!) and our dossier can be completed, so we can finally be put on the waiting list!! Sometimes I feel like we're just taking baby steps, but at least each step is a step closer!....and our God is faithful! "Your faithfulness continues through all generations...." (Psalm 119:90a)

Thank you for all of the continued prayers and support. It means so much.....
