Two years ago today, the Spirit forever wrecked our hearts, and lives. In case you are not aware....today is Orphan Sunday. Today we are reminded of the 153 million orphans worldwide. Today we are reminded that there are over 120,000 orphans in the United States, alone. A speaker from Compassion International came to our church to speak last week. He stated that if one (just one!) family from every Christian church in the United States adopted just one child out of the foster care system, there would be no more orphans here. I don't know about you, but that blew me away. As Francis Chan says: "We often ask what's going to happen to us if we adopt. Instead we should ask, what's going to happen to this child if we don't." All it takes, is a simple act of faith on the part of the servant, as we trust and rely on the faithful Master. He does not ask that we are able....only that we are willing....He is able. I couldn't help but share the video that we watched two years ago. It is my prayer, that as you watch it, the Spirit would stir something in your heart, just as it did ours in November of 2013.

Here is an article by Russell Moore on --> Why Your Church Should Recognize Orphan Sunday.
Not all are called to adopt. Not all are called to foster. Not all are called to orphanage work. But we, as Christians are all called to care for the fatherless. So, I guess my question to you, today....on Orphan Sunday....is this: as a fellow Christ follower (and former orphan), how are you caring for the fatherless?
"And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God." Philippians 1:9-11
I love that you have been blowing about this whole process. What a wonderful way to look back at where you have been and see how much closer you are to getting your sweet baby boy! Thank you for sharing this with me - I plan on keeping up very closely with your journey. It is so very exciting and I am so thrilled that you get to go meet your baby boy so very soon! I will be praying for your journey and time with him.
ReplyDeleteI think that God must have put us in each other's path for a reason; we are planning on adopting as well [from Korea!] sometime in the [hopefully not too distant] future. Adoption has always been a calling on my heart and I cannot wait for the day that we get to start the adoption process and then welcome our sweet baby home. I can't wait to read back through all of your posts and see what the whole process has been for you all.
Also, you guys got married on October 4th?! So did we! Seven years ago, just like you. Crazy. :)
